About Me
Associate Professor -Mathematics, Indian Institute of Technology, Jodhpur
A combination of a mentor, teacher, writer, speaker, motivator, spiritual leader and a researcher, is also awarded the Best Faculty Award IIT, Jodhpur in 201,4 and recently he was awarded the first Distinguished Award & Teaching Excellence Award 2024 of IIT Jodhpur.
Under the guidance of Dr Vivek Vijay, five scholars have obtained/accomplished their Ph D during 2016 and 2020. Dr Vivek Vijay earned his PhD from IIT Bombay in 2007. He also achieved a Gold Medal for securing the highest marks in all Sciences in M Sc. He has been associated with BITS, Goa, as a lecturer, the Goa Institute of Management as an Assistant Professor and Syntel Inc Company as Quantitative Finance team Manager. After a successful journey of two years, his teaching passion travelled back to the Academics, and he joined IIT Jodhpur, where he has been working as an Associate Professor since 2010.
An expert in Statistics, Dr Vivek Vijay has published several papers in National and International journals. He also edited a book entitled “Systems Thinking Approach for Social Problems”. To address the challenges of foundation years of education, he has also penned down a book titled “मैं विद्यालय बोल रहा हूँ ”, and also, he has dedicated a poetic book named “तस्मै श्री गुरूिे नम:” to Gurudev Pd. Shriram Sharma Acharya Ji.
Organising National & International Conferences and Workshops on different areas of Mathematics and Statistics is part of his journey. He was also one of the Panellists in the International Forum on Research & Development at McMaster University in 2011 in Canada.
“A theoretical lecture can never inculcate values, but a mentor’s personal life can”, says spiritually inclined Dr Vivek Vijay.
His seminars express the need of the hour to focus on value-based education, inculcation of moral values, ethics & build up stronger characters with bright careers. At the same time, his lectures communicate a synchronised approach of happiness & harmony to bridge the gap between parents and teens.
He is a combination of Value-Based innovative Academic approach & Administrative skills, which he also served as the Coordinator of Faculty Affairs & Students’ Affairs, Head of Counselling Services, and recently served as President of Faculty Association as well at IIT Jodhpur.
His keen interest towards betterment is initiated as ‘Parivartan’-The Social Initiative of IIT Jodhpur, which is flourishing under his guidance.

Dr Vijay is the enthusiastic founder and coordinator of DIVINE INDIA YOUTH ASSOCIATION (DIYA), Rajasthan, since its inception in 2006 by Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Dr Pranav Pandya. DIYA Rajasthan has been engaged in various constructive Activities and long-term projects, including GVM, Rajsamand, Gramotkarsh, Vyasan Mukt Bharat & BSGP, etc., for the upliftment of youth and to channelise their potential towards national development under the able guidance & inspiring leadership of Dr Vivek Vijay.
